why does jonas have to be the reciever? i think that they chose jonas to be the Reciever because he is trust worthy and would do a good job of being the reciever.
i also think that being the reciever is passed down from generation to generation, but they dont want people to know that. so they are saying that it is the first time that they were doing this.
i also think that when you are the reciever and you do well and succed you would have powers just like how the old man/ The Giver. Because when The Giver was twelve years old he was also the reciever but then he had became the reciever, and i think that this would exactly be like Jonas, now being the reciever and later being like the Giver.
